FLICKR POOL SATURDAYS!(Nerdy about Un-Nerdy things Edition!)
I have colour-coded my charts, I have read in-depth on every aspect of how to approach this and I have a lot of film to watch and consultants to listen to before any decision can be made. That’s right, I’m talking about fantasy football. The thing that destroys any Man-points I get from watching NFL. I’d feel bad if I didn’t enjoy it so much but there’s just something about having six different filters for deciding if a player is right for an imaginary team I made up.
LEFT and RIGHT: Tyron Hug and FreilandI’m deciding to talk about these as a pair of images despite them being by different artists. I just love these images so much together that it seems stupid to separate them in this section. In Hug’s image we see a fragment of nature existing within the framework of an urban landscape and in Freiland’s we see traces of modern living cutting into what seems at first like a very rural scene. Under further examination though you notice that the path is worn. In addition there’s what looks like the top of a shopping trolley in the foreground and the top of a tower building peeking over the hill in the back. It’s a great study of the overall environment as opposed to a simple shot of an interesting tree.Hug’s city shot reigns supreme in terms of colour though. Everything is so rich and you really get a sense of the midday town. The flash of pink from the tree really breaks up the predominantly grey and blue palette.
BOTTOM: Megan TilleyI love her work. She just keeps posting stuff that I fall in love with and it’s difficult to not become envious of how consistent her quality of output is right now. This is another extraordinary cinematic piece that just grabs me and wish it was just a still from a something much bigger. I want more. I want everything Megan Tilley has in her arsenal and that feeling grows on a week to week basis.
Click on any of the above photos to see them larger. Submit to the DF Flickr Pool to maybe see your shots here next week!
